Many of us feel quite annoyed by the tons of notifications we receive when someone sends too many text messages consecutively instead of just one message with all they have to say. Great news is, iOS developer Hrvoje Kostic created DoNotAnnoy tweak and its name gives a big clue of what its purpose is.
Developed to reduce the annoyingly big amount of alerts you get when someone just can’t put all their ideas into one message, DoNotAnnoy tweak mutes frequent notifications from an app within specific timeframes. You will still receive all the notifications and will be able to see them, but you will get rid of the annoying continuous alert sounds and vibration and choose yourself when to be notified. For example, you can set the time interval to 15 seconds and so you will get notifications every 15 seconds.
DoNotAnnoy is a much better alternative to the iOS Do Not Disturb mode, because even though those people who can’t write a whole phrase without hitting “send” are annoying, you still want to read their messages in time without being notified each time they send a line of text. While the Do Not Disturb mode mutes all notifications from your apps including Messages with the risk of recipients missing important information from senders, DoNotAnnoy tweak silences the alerts that follow the initial one and notify you again only after the time interval you set.
You can easily configure DoNotAnnoy tweak in its preferences pane added to your Settings app with the following options:
Enable or Disable the tweak on demand
Choose the time interval for silenced notifications
Choose a filtering mode
Enable Group Chat Filter to use it in group chats
Enable the tweak’s effects on the Lock screen
Enable the tweak’s effects on banners and alerts while the device is unlocked
Choose to disable the tweak for specific applications
You may not want the tweak to silence some application’s alerts and you can choose to disable the tweak’s effect on apps such as Facebook Messenger, Messages, Skype, WhatsApp and more.
DoNotAnnoy is a very useful jailbreak tweak and really improves the quality of a chat, especially in group conversations where all the annoying tens of alerts are blowing up your device. The fact that you can set the timeout enables each user to have a custom experience with this tweak depending on what their friends texting habits are.
If you really want to get rid of unwanted notifications from people who send lots of texts one after another, DoNotAnnoy is the perfect tweak for you. It works on both jailbroken iOS9 and iOS 10 devices and can be downloaded from Cydia’s BigBoss repository for $1.99.
